Allama Iqbal
Allama Iqbal, who lived from 1877 to 1938, really proves to be one of the best philosophers, poets, and politicians, an influential person in the Indian subcontinent. He was born in Sialkot, British India, which is now Pakistan , and did his higher education through philosophy and law studies in Europe at places like Cambridge University, University of Munich, and Lincoln’s Inn.
Iqbal’s poetry is mainly in Urdu and Persian; it represents profound philosophical themes, spiritual rebirth, and empowerment for the Islamic Ummah. His works, such as Bang-e-Dra (The Call of the Marching Bell) and Asrar-e-Khudi (Secrets of the Self), have inspired millions. He initiated the idea of a separate homeland for Muslims which eventually took the name of Pakistan.
Iqbal, known as Mufakkir-e-Pakistan (The Thinker of Pakistan), intellectually laid the foundation for the Pakistan Movement. Although he died in 1938, before the making of Pakistan, his legacy continues to inspire generations.
